Evidence of Directing
Evidence of Directing
This video shows evidence of me directing during the filming process within the production stage of producing y film opening. Directing is important because it means that the actors know exactly how the act on set, including facial expressions, body language, tone and movement. This is very important in order to achieve the desired outcome of your film and to enable the audience to identify the film as a certain genre. For example, a thriller would typically include close ups of characters looking scared and the director would have told the actors to do this. In this video you can see me using professional language such as "action" which enables the cast to know when the start acting, ensuring that the shot was successfully captured. In addition, you can hear me telling one of my cast members to move her hair out of the way because it was preventing the audience to see her face. This would make the audience unable to see her facial expressions and therefore unable to determine her emotions during this equilibrium and the relationship with her friend that I want to show on screen. Hopefully, by directing all of the shots whilst filming, I was able to portray the preferred reading on stage that I wanted to (Stuart Hall's Reception Theory).
