Location Permission Request Letter - Forest

 Forest Permission Request Letter

This documentation is evidence of a location permission request letter. This is evidence that I have contacted the owner of that land that I want to film in and have requested permission to film. At this point I have not yet received permission to film in these locations but have requested it. Before a film producer gets permission to film in a location, they have to request permission. A film producer only requests permission if they know that is the location, they want to film in. The know this from sourcing locations and creating a location recce and risk assessment for potential filming locations. Most of the time, film producers request permission for multiple possible filming locations in case a location owner says no, or a certain location suddenly becomes unavailable whilst filming, leaving a film producer to possibly use a backup location. Evidence that a film producer is allowed to film in a location is needed because it is illegal to film without it and film makers can get arrested or have to face consequences if they get caught filming in a location without permission. Despite it being illegal to film without permission, some film makers do it anyway in hopes of not getting caught and sometimes it turns out successful for the film producer. However, the risk is quite high does not always pay off for some film makers. It is risk - free and better to gain a location permit or permission to film in a location. I have completed a location permission document as a letter because I did not know the landowners personally and had to research who owned the forest. After, completing my research I found out the address of the landowners and therefore my (and a film makers) only option would be to send a letter to get into contact with the owners. In the letters, I also gave the landowners my email so that it would be easier for the landowners to contact me. This documentation impacts my final production because the landowners answer determines my location for my film and the overall look/ mise-en-scene of the scenes that need to be filmed in a forest. My piece of documentation is professional and industry standard, it gives details about the film, what we would use the location for and who would be involved.

Dear Mrs. Smith,
I am currently a student and plan on producing a thriller film that largely features a forest. I hope to film on your land on the 21st March 2021. My cast and crew will consist of 5 people, and we will not cause any disruptions or damage to your forestMoreover, I have completed a high standard risk assessment to ensure that that there will be no issues or injuries whilst filming. I plan on placing filming equipment and a few props within your forest but however, I will remove them on the last day of filming.
I would be grateful if you could let me know if it is possible to film at your site. I can be contacted via a letter or my email oegr14mo@dcsch.co.uk
Thank you for considering my request.

Sincerely, Millie Oates.
