Film Script

This documentation shows evidence of a script that I wrote for the opening scene of my film. A screenplay, or script, is a written work by screenwriters for a film, TV show or video game. In them, the movement, actions, expression and dialogues of the characters are stated and narrated. I have completed this on Word as it is a lot of text, and therefore Word was the easiest and best option for me to write a lot of text. Also, I have included character ques and stage directions so that it is very detailed and all actors will know exactly what their lines are and what they should be doing and when. This script contributes to the pre production process as a form of planning for the filming process. It is important that actors know their lines and stage directions because if a script was not completed it would mean that when filming, no one would know what to say or how to act and it would not be very organised. This would waste time and in a professional setting it would waste money as well because of how expensive filming equipment is and how much the cast and crew need to be payed, so it is important to plan ahead so thing run smoothly. If my actors did not know their line or actions, then my film would also not be able to be made because there are no words or movements. My script is very professional and resembles a professional format that I researched and got help from. Please note that this script may differ to the opening sequence of my final film, depending on if I change my mind or want to change things. 

OPENING SCENE
EXT.FOREST - DUSK

This is the forest inside the black and white world where Tessa has horrifying experiences. Tessa has seen a dark figure in the distance and thinks it is an ordinary person.

Tessa 

Finally, someone who can help me leave.

After getting closer, Tessa begins to realize that it is a monster. 

Tessa 

Wait what is that? 

After realizing the figure is a monster Tessa begins to run away but the monster catches up to her and suddenly appears in front of her, attempting to attack her. This scares her. 

(screams)

The shot glitches whilst Tessa is still screaming.
Blackout 

CUT TO:

INT. BRITISH CLASSROOM - EARLY AFTERNOON
We are inside a typical British classroom. Tessa and her best friend Ava are sat near the back talking.

Ava:

 Did you watch The Life yesterday?

Tessa: 

No, I haven't seen it yet. What happened?

Ava: 

I can't tell you, it's a huge spoiler. 

Tessa: 

Oh, come on, you know I love spoilers.

Ava: 

OK fine I'll give you a hint (starts humming wedding them song).

Tessa: 

No way, I knew it. I knew they were gonna get together.    

Mr. Wilson: 

(Trying to get the class' attention) 
Alright, class, listen up. So, for your homework you will be starting a new project, its called capturing nature in its true form. You can photograph anything you want, as long as it relates to nature in some way, and you have to be able to explain it. I expect at least ten photographs and at most 15. I need this handing in a week today so that I can mark it and write up your grades. Does anyone have any questions?

(no one answers) 

Tessa: 

I'm actually excited for this; I think it'll be fun.

Ava: 

I'm not I just find nature boring.

Tessa: 

Oh really, I'd say I'm the opposite.

Ava: 

What are you going to photograph?

Tessa: 

I'm going to go to Kendall woods ad take some pictures there.

Ava: 

(Jokingly) What, are you crazy? that forest is haunted. 

Tessa: 

(Laughs), No it's not, you shouldn't believe rumors.

Tessa: 

Alright, I'll see you tomorrow. 

Ava: 

Okay, bye.

CUT TO: EXT. VILLAGE - AFTERNOON

Tessa has now left the school and we follow her journey whilst walking home. Nearly home she walks past the forest she plans to enter later, she looks inside it briefly, trying to see if it was haunted but then after seeing there was nothing inside, carries on making her way home. Eventually she reaches her home and enters.


Industry Standard Example 

This industry standard example of a script is similar to my script. It uses the same font, it states if the scene is INT or EXT and it includes stage directions. However, their version is much more detailed and the set and scene has been explained fully, whereas mine has not.
